IMPORTANT—PLEASE READ! A quick note about “Referee Responsibilities”

In our continual quest to make Dodgeball a fun and enjoyable activity for all we are requiring all teams to referee a minimum of 3 games this season. A team can choose to have 1 or multiple referees at the game (the more eyes the better). A team or person will be given a $5 discount off next seasons fees (up to a max of $60 and based on one referee per game).

It is important to note that Dodgeball is a “self-refereed” game and relies on the integrity, honestly and sportsmanship of all involved. The “Ref” is present to make only the close calls, record the score and yell “Go” to start the game. All players (as per their signed waiver) have read the rules of the game and have agreed to respect the referee as well as other players and to follow the rules at all times. Keep Dodgeball fun by calling yourself out and never calling an opposing player “out”. The golden rule in Dodgeball is, “If you think you got someone out and they don’t go off, make your hit more definitive next time”. Extenuating or frustrating circumstances should be brought to the referee by the captain and only between sets.

Refereeing Dodgeball can be fun, offers insights into the game and a different perspective. Please remember that Dodgeball is the only sport in the world with 3 balls 3 lines and 10 people to watch all at the same time! Have fun with it and feel free to ask any questions about rules prior to your referee assignment. As well, we can arrange to partner you up with an experienced referee.

Cheers and Good luck!
